It was one of the best summers I've had in a long time. I learned about cars inside and out.
I learned about Firestone Internships when I attended my school's Career Fair in Spring 2001. I looked at several different companies for Internships, but what really got me motivated to work for Firestone was the whole "experience" they were willing to offer. The Internship gave me experience in leadership, teamwork, and the retail industry and most importantly it gave me the opportunity to learn about cars.
What's awesome is that my Internship was in Orlando, Florida - the home of Walt Disney World and Mickey Mouse. I had a great time both during work and after work.
At first, my main tasks were to make sure that bills were paid and work orders were filled, gradually I learned how to write the repair orders. I also learned about tires sales and service and how to communicate with my customers. Not only do you need present your products and services well, but also to present yourself as a confident and respectable sales teammate. This is the way to gain your customer's trust.
It's not about learning the job, but also the environment you work in. Learning to communicate with the customer is your goal, but to accomplish this, you have to learn to communicate with your team. My co-workers taught me a lot. It's about learning to respect each other's ideas and helping each other out.
The internship was great, I'm glad I got this opportunity. I learned a lot about cars and it gave me a chance to improve my communication with other people.
This summer, I had the opportunity to gain real world work experience at BFS Retail & Commercial Operations, LLC in their Internship program. While I was there, I was able to interact with every type of customer, which proved an ultimate test to my sales ability.
I think companies, like BFS Retail & Commercial Operations, LLC, who go out of their way to recruit college students for their internship programs truly realize the benefits of it to both the company and the student.
When I go back to school this fall, I'll be able to use real life examples in classroom discussions, which puts me at an advantage over other students. I tell everyone about my excellent experience, and when people hear about good internships word spreads quickly around campus.
I am convinced that my internship with BFS Retail & Commercial Operations, LLC was invaluable to my future.
